According to this article, Microsoft will soon be eliminating the option to allow a local user instead of a Microsoft login. That means no internet during setup, no Microsoft account, no setup.

That’s going too far. Your current 11 setup should remain stable. If it eventually demands a Microsoft user, it might be time to jump ship.

Two possibilities: Windows 10. Yes, I know it’s no longer supported, but you can either get a free account at 0patch.com and get security patches, or you can opt for a professional account and get lots more patches. You can also sign up with me and pay a flat fee of $60 per year per seat and get the full enterprise patching that 0patch offers.

Possibility 2: switch to Linux. Ubuntu, Mint, and Fedora have gotten very user-friendly in their installs. And if you use your computer for documents, photos, songs, movies, and internet stuff, Linux will fill your needs safely, securely, and for free. I have kept my same Gnome desktop since 2006 in Linux. Does your current computer desktop look anything like Windows 2000 or XP?

Give me a call or an email if I can help.
